GE, Operators.
This week we're going to work with a form that I do not fully understand: the Windshield Damage Survey.
I understand the concept of driving around, assessing damage. The fact that this form bears no resemblence to the FEMA ICS314 or the CERT Damage Assessment Form -- which are very similar -- is what I find confusing. I have no idea where this particular form came from. If you do, let me know.
The Winlink version seems more like a middle management form, with damage dollar values to be calculated. But when you go to open the file (Select Template/General Forms/Windshield Damage Survey), there is also a printable version to take out into the field. You're supposed to gather the information on the printed form and then give it to the radio operator. They are supposed to transfer the data to the Winlink version for transmission over RF. That makes it seem as if this is intended as an "in the field" form.
Here are links for the ICS314 and CERT forms for you to compare. Any comments on the forms are not only welcomed, but encouraged.
So....Here's the deal for this week.
You're the radio operator at the Disasterville EOC and you've just been handed the following Windshield Damage Survey form, fresh from the field. Please record its information in the Winlink version of the form and send it to SNJOEM.
Good luck and have fun!

PS: If you're feeling frisky: Click the Set Up button at the upper left of the form and add SNJ Winlink Wednesday to the header.
