Re: WEEK #155

GE, Operators. Sorry for the delay.

Welcome to Week #155.

It’s a good idea to keep radio operators accounted for during an activation. A voice net may be an option, but you can track station status passively via Winlink as well.

The Exercise:
You are operating at a shelter. Its name is the phonetic of the first letter of your first name. For example: Tim would be Shelter Tango.
Open a Winlink Check-in Form (Select Template/Standard Templates/ MAPPING-GIS forms/Winlink Check-in)
Put your shelter name in the Header by clicking on the SETUP button.
In the TO: box, put SNJOEM and the three operators’ callsigns that follow you own callsign in the list below. (If you’re at the end, cycle back to the top of the list)

FROM: Your callsign. STATION CONTACT NAME is you. INTIAL OPERATOR is Brian Smedley.
Fill in the appropriate SESSION data.
LOCATION: Hope Hospital parking lot, near Emergency Room.
Insert your location information, either manually (LAT/LONG) or with GPS. NOTE:  Without properly formatted GPS coordinates this form cannot be mapped in Winlink Express.
We will be mapping, so make every effort to get your coordinates right.

In the COMMENT section put: THIS IS DRILL and a brief Status Report for your shelter (feel free to use the stock suggestions in the form)

Wait 24hrs; open Winlink and click on the Message tab. Select Generate Maps and CSV files for forms. In the Select Form drop down click on Winlink Check-in. Choose a map provider and click on Display Map. You should see the three messages that were sent to you. You may have to zoom out depending on the sender’s location.

That’s it. Have fun!

PS: If you’re not on the list, shoot me a Winlink email and I’ll make sure you get a message or two.
