Welcome to Week #170.

We’re going to use an ICS213RR (Resource Request) form this week. Open one up (Select Template/Standard Templates/ICS Forms/ICS213RR).
Download the form’s data here: https://groups.io/g/SNJEMCOM/files/SNJ%20Winlink%20Wednesday/ICS213RR%202024-03-18%2013_05.txt
The file should end up in your computer’s Downloads folder.  Click the Load ICS213RR Data button at the top of the form. Open the file from your Downloads folder and click the Load ICS213RR Data button at the top of the form.
Please put your location from last week’s exercise in the form’s header.

Send the completed form to SNJOEM.
That’s it. Have fun.

Welcome to Week #169.

Our multi-week exercise continues…

We’ll assume that everyone’s station is up and running at their assigned locations. Our next step will be starting an ICS214 to keep track of what’s going on.
Please open an ICS214 and put your assigned location in the header (your preferred location from Week #167).
The Incident Name is still: Hazard County Blizzard.
The Operational Period will begin with your Week #167 submission. The From: will be TBD or leave it blank for now.
ICS Position is Radio Operator (RO) and your location (Example: RO Hazard Cty EMS)
For Home Agency and Unit, put whichever EmComm group you belong to in real life (Ex: OCEAN CTY ARES). If you don’t belong to an EmComm group put Disasterville AUXCOMM.
For Resources Assigned, put Eddie Haskell; Wally Cleaver and Theodore Cleaver – all ROs for your EmComm group.
And begin your assigned location’s activity log.
Don’t forget to click on SAVE ICS214 DATA at the bottom of the form. Close the form after doing that and go back to your real life. There is nothing to send in this week. Just get your ICS214 going. We’ll continue next week.
[NOTE: There’s more to Winlink than sending messages. Getting in the habit of saving your data is crucial in an EmComm environment. So, we practice. I say this as someone that’s forgotten to save data more than a few times in exercises.]

Have fun!

Welcome to Week #165.

We did a Position Report for Week #153 to post your location to the Winlink database. This week you’ll request an individual operator’s location. (You can only make this request for one callsign at a time, no multiples)
Open a Winlink message. Address it to QTH. Put POSITION REQUEST in the subject line. In the message body, put: NJ2N. Open a session to send the message. Wait a few minutes, open another session. A reply message from SERVICE should contain my location.

You could use this to keep track of operators and their status during a deployment.

It does not work for tactical callsigns.

Good luck. Have fun!

Welcome to Week #163.

Disasterville has had a severe snowstorm. You are tasked with sending an ICS205 containing the emergency frequencies to SNJOEM.

The event name is: Disasterville Blizzard
Start date and time: 01/24/2023, 1100L
End date and time: TBD
Approved by: Mark Knofler Disasterville Planning Mgr

You will find a spreadsheet of the ICS205 frequencies here: https://groups.io/g/SNJEMCOM/files/SNJ%20Winlink%20Wednesday/DISASTERVILLE%20BLIZZARD%201-24-2023.xlsx

Please send it by the following methods:
1 Load the spreadsheet’s information directly into an ICS205 form using the Paste Channel Data from a Spreadsheet option.
2 Attach the spreadsheet to an ICS213. In the message body put THIS IS DRILL and comment on which method you think is better or more practical.

That’s it. Have fun!
